Earth Data Welcomes Max Winn

Earth Data is pleased to announce that GIS Analyst Max Winn recently joined its team of dedicated field-oriented groundwater, geospatial, and environmental consulting professionals.

Winn is originally from Fauquier County in Northern Virginia but now lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended James Madison University and declared a business major but took a class in Geographic Science, where his lifelong interest in maps connected with the newest technology. After learning the fundamentals of GIS (Geographic Information Systems), his interest was growing, so he changed majors. He continued and earned an undergrad degree in Geographic Science.

After graduation, he worked on a short-term assignment for Earth Data Incorporated and then took a position as a GIS specialist with 1Spatial in Tysons Corner, Virginia. He eventually moved to Pittsburgh and was a GIS technician at Powder Mill Nature Reserve, a research station for the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. During that time, he worked with other professionals who were from the University of Pittsburgh. Those meetings inspired him to earn a professional master's degree in GIS and Remote Sensing from the university.

The field of GIS relies on global technology. Because the technology can be at your fingertips anywhere around the world, Winn will continue to live in Pittsburgh while working on Earth Data projects.
